This group is winding down, in that they will be replaced by the new Arts & Culture Commission. Some of the members will transfer to the new Commission.
Pages 2 and 3 of the meeting packet provides the status of the installations for New Loveland Mine Park, Clear Creek Trail, DeLong Park, Triangle Park, the artistic downtown bike corrals, and a new signal box wrap. The last two are new this year.
They have selected a consultant to help them choose art for the new city hall. They will have about $470,000 to spend.
A selection committee discussed art proposals for Ulysses Park and narrowed the selection from 82 proposals to eight artists. Staff will now work with those artists to prepare renderings showing the pieces as they would look in the park. The renderings will be used to gather public input into the selection. The preliminary selections appear on pp. 7-9 of the meeting packet.
The City will be constructing sound walls to help mitigate highway noise. 1% of the construction cost will be dedicated to art. Molding a design into the concrete panels is a popular way to accomplish this goal.
