Join us this evening to celebrate our two latest exhibits: SAQA Wild! and English Paper Piecing.
SAQA WILD!
NE Gallery
A collection of Art Quilts submitted by Studio Art Quilt Associates members from an invitation to let their imaginations take them on a journey to a WILD place – ANY wild place. The exhibit includes pieces from 30 artists, many from our own state of Colorado!! WILD is a small word, with BIG opportunity especially when you live in the area of Colorado, Utah, and Wyoming. These art quilts use texture, shape, color and a multitude of techniques to take you to their WILD places.
A book in our Gift Shop can be purchased to help you share the exhibit with far away friends, but the quilts are so much better in person, where the textures are so readily apparent.
ENGLISH PAPER PIECING
Main Gallery
Bravo to all of the English Paper Piecing (EPP) quilters taking part in this challenge.
In this call for entry, stitchers were asked to create a quilt that incorporates their favorite motifs: fussy cut, floral, Millefiori style, to name a few. After all the entries came in by May 31st, the jury selected 37 quilts which fill the main gallery with color and beautiful examples of traditional hexagon patterns such as tributes to Grandmother's Flower Garden, diamond patterns and even art quilts created from hexagons. But hexagons are not the only shapes used in EPP! These hand pieced works of art use a multitude of shapes to create Millefiori patterns, starbursts, stars and crosses, and tumbling blocks to name a few. Fabric choices and fussy cutting turn patterns into kaleidoscope and mosaics of fun adventure as you discover animals, flowers and other objects in the shapes. You'll be amazed at the incredible work presented in this exhibit!
