Staff will present their Transportation Demand Management (TDM) strategy. The goal of this strategy is to reduce the use of single occupancy vehicles. The TDM strategy includes a series of changes, including:

  • building protected bike lines
  • adopting more shared use paths (where bicycles can use pedestrian routes)
  • evaluating available parking to determine whether we have more than we need

Staff proposes focusing their efforts on large employers and either mandating or incentivizing them to make TDM-centric changes, such as adding bike racks and installing showers.

There is a new state law mandating that multifamily housing within 1/4 mile of a transit route will have no parking requirements. Because this already applies to the area along the RTD bus line, staff is suggesting that area (see the map above) as the target of the TDM strategy.

(Comment: that area contains few large employers. Most big employers are based in the industrial parks at the north, south, and east ends of the City.)

The Commission's second topic for the night will be a review of proposed changes to our zoning code. Tonight's draft document suggests some changes to acceptable uses of various types of property.

How to find your property's zoning.
