You’ve no doubt heard of Black Friday–the infamous day after Thanksgiving, when shoppers pour into the malls and big box stores. Are you also familiar with Small Business Saturday? This is the Saturday after Thanksgiving, when people are encouraged to patronize their small, local businesses.
Here in Golden, we usually try to do something special to encourage people to shop locally. Some years we start our Christmas parades on that Saturday.
This year, we’re going to have a 5K run downtown, followed by an Elf Parade. The 5K will start downtown at 8AM, and proceeds will benefit Golden’s Neighborhood Rehab project. The Parade starts at 9:30 in Parfet Park, and goes under the arch (so it will be a great photo op!). The date is Saturday, November 29th.
