Happy 4th of July!
The Golden History Center, the Astor House, the Railroad Museum, and the Buffalo Bill Museum will all be open, so you can celebrate Independence Day with some American history!
The forecast calls for a hot day (high of 91), so lots of people will be playing in the creek. If you’re one of them, be careful! The water is still high, cold, and fast.
Heritage Square is celebrating with some wild west actors, who will be staging gunfights, quick-draw contests, and robberies between 11AM and 3PM. Look for Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, Doc Holiday, Wyatt Earp, Madam Laura Bell, and others!
The Golden Lions Club will host a party from noon-8 in Lions Park (map). They’ll have free rides for the kids, face painting, and live music. Food and beverages (including Golden City Beer) will be available for purchase. They’ll be pulling raffle tickets throughout the day. The proceeds support the event, and any excess goes into community projects. They have more than 200 prizes to give away, including overnight stays at the mountain casinos and a grand prize of $1000!
The party is officially over at 8, but stick around anyway, because the fireworks start as soon as it’s dark…9-9:30. Lions Park is a good place to watch them.
The Golden Moon Speakeasy will have the Lookout Mountain Boys playing from 7 to 10PM, and their patio on Miners Alley will have a good view of the fireworks display.
Windy Saddle Cafe has Thunder & Rain playing, starting at 6:30, and they’re having a free old-fashioned cake walk for kids at 7.
The Buffalo Rose will present the all-American rock band, Warrant, at 7.
Have fun and stay safe today!
