Here’s some good news: RTD has changed their minds about eliminating the 16L bus from Denver to Golden. Kudos to Councilor Trout and Mayor Weinberg for their strong and effective advocacy for Golden. Interestingly, I first learned about this when former Mayor Marjorie Sloan, who is currently gadding about the Indian Ocean, shared the Denver Post article that announced the change.
The City needs more applicants to apply for Board and Commissions. Some years they have way more applications than openings, but that’s not the case this year. If you want to serve the community–particularly if you’re unhappy about any City policies–send in an application! They’re particularly short of applicants for the Historic Preservation Board, so all you history buffs out there, please consider serving on that board. If you’re concerned about the push to increase housing density or the moves to reduce parking availability, apply for the Planning Commission.
The Railroad Museum is holding one of their delightful Colorado Rails & Cocktails events this evening.
Relax, have a beverage, and travel back to a time when railroads shaped the American West. Jeff Taylor, Curator of Rolling Stock discusses what’s happening in the Roundhouse and takes us through the restoration of our beloved Locomotive No. 20, now at home.
Admission includes 2 beverages of your choice: beer, wine or soda and snacks. Bar opens at 6:30PM and the presentation starts promptly at 7:00PM. Presentation length varies by event and the doors close at 8:30PM. Minimum Age: 21. Click here for tickets….

The Rolling Stones will be touring this summer. Out of curiosity, I checked into ticket prices. Their first stop is San Diego, and I saw that tickets start at $123. That didn’t seem so bad, so I kept scrolling down to see how much really good tickets would cost. They go up to $3754. Wow!
Here’s a cheaper alternative: on March 21st, the Buffalo Rose is hosting three tribute bands, representing the Stones, the Beatles, and Eric Clapton. Admittedly, it’s not quite the same thing, but the tickets are $15 in advance and escalate all the way to $20 at the door.
The Rose gets quite a few tribute bands. Tonight, you can see tributes to Alice in Chains, Smashing Pumpkins and Green Day. On the 13th you can see the Talking Heads (or something very like them) and Tom Waits(-ish). There are also tributes coming up for Genesis (the 14th) and the Police (28th). See all of their upcoming shows….
Don’t forget–they’re having Swing Night Supper Club this Sunday, and hosting a Jazz and Murder at the same time. Tickets are still available.
