Golden resident and historian, Paul Haseman will be presenting an exploration of the deep connections that the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute tribes have to the Golden area, including:

  • Early history: Learn about the Indigenous people who occupied the Front Range region long before the arrival of European settlers.
  • Tribal territories: Discover how the ancestral lands of multiple tribes overlapped in the Golden area.
  • Conflicts and alliances: Hear about the complex relationships between the Cheyenne, Arapaho, and Ute tribes, including a notable battle near the Chimney Gulch Trail.
  • Chief Colorow: Discover the story of this influential Ute Mountain chief and his contributions to the Golden area.
  • Golden's recognition of Native Americans: Learn about the City of Golden's efforts to acknowledge and celebrate its Indigenous heritage.

This is a unique opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Golden's past and the Indigenous people who have shaped our community.
