Winter is coming, and so is the Day of the Dead

Ready or not, winter is coming.  Clearly, a lot of people are more than ready:

Bent Gate Mountaineering is hosting an Avalanche Awareness Clinic in their store tonight from 6:30-7:30.  The Friends of Berthould Pass are offering an Avalanche Awareness Classroom tomorrow night from 7-9:30 at the Mountaineering Museum.

Thursday night, from 6:30-8:30, Powder7 Ski Shop will host Colorado’s premier powder forecaster Joel Gratz of OpenSnow.  The snow maestro will dig into this winter’s snow outlook, teach us how to find the best powder, and answer your burning questions about chasing storms. Coming Up: Day of the Dead Event
This Friday from 3:30-4:30, representatives from the Museo de las Americas will visit the Golden Library to teach us about this special day and help us decorate sugar skulls.  Celebrate the traditions of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) at the Library. From its Aztec roots to the modern celebration influenced by Spanish colonization, dive into this day of rich, cultural significance for Mexico and the United States. Explore the importance of ofrendas (offerings), the themed art and decorations, and the relationship to the monarch butterfly migration. You can even honor your ancestors and loved ones when you decorate your own sugar skull!  The event is suitable for all ages.
