Transportation Open House, Beer Talks at the Buffalo Rose

6-8PM at the Golden Community Center (map): The City’s Planning Department is holding a Community Open House event regarding the Transportation Master Plan. If you’ve ever watched the city do something inexplicable to your road–take away lanes, add concrete islands in the middle, insist that you back in to parking spaces, etc.–this is your opportunity to register your opinions. If you’ve ever attended a city meeting of any kind and learned that it’s much too late to change whatever you don’t like–this is the time to ask for the changes you want. The best time to affect a master plan is when it’s in its earliest, most abstract form.

6:30PM in City Council Chambers: The Economic Development Commission didn’t have a quorum last month, so tonight they will discuss some of the business left over from May. Holidaily Brewing recently built a much larger brewery, which enables them to greatly expand capacity. “Staff recommends that EDComm recommend that the City Manager authorize the standard 1/3 of use tax rebate up to a maximum of $25,000 as is somewhat regularly awarded as a good faith gesture to recognize business contributions to the community.” Staff may also report on their progress in hiring a new City employee to “encourage residents and businesses to buy local for retail and services.” See the meeting packet….

6:30PM at the Buffalo Rose: Golden Beer Talks will hold its first gathering in their new digs. Tonight’s speaker is Dr. Jim Clawson. Jim is a technical advisor to NASA and will talk about the space program. In late March, Vice President Pence announced that American Astronauts would be returning to the moon by 2024. Last week, President Trump tweeted that we should not go to the moon. Dr. Clawson’s scheduled topic is “Boots on the Moon,” but who knows what our national plan will be by tonight? Attend Golden Beer Talks, and you’ll find out! Tonight’s featured beer will come from one of Golden’s newest breweries–Coda Brewing.

If you’ve been curious about Golden Beer Talks, if you’ve been wanting to see the renovated Buffalo Rose, if you like Golden Beer talks but found the old venue too crowded, if you’ve been meaning to visit Coda Brewing, or if you’re curious to hear what Dr. Clawson will say, plan to attend Golden Beer Talks tonight at 6:30 at the Buffalo Rose!
