Parks & Plays

Lions Park - Golden Colorado

City Council meets tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers.  They will consider adoption of a set of updated rules & regulations for City Parks.  They will also consider a proposed update to the City’s sign code.  Finally, they will discuss installing a “community solar garden” at the Rooney Road Sports Complex.  For more information, see the meeting packet on the City’s Agendas page.   After these items, they will adjourn into Executive Session to discuss an intergovernmental agreement with the Schools of Mines and to evaluate the City Manager’s performance.

Miners Alley Playhouse will open a new play tomorrow night:  HIR.  It will run through March 5th.

Ullrgrass kicks off tonight with a Band Competition from 7-11 at the Buffalo Rose.  Looks like this group will be lucky with the weather!  They have daytime performances scheduled for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in Parfet Park, and the weather should be clear for the next several days.

Streetcars, Geology, Theater, and Craft

The Golden History Museum is presenting a lecture tonight from 6-7:30 on The Denver and Interurban Streetcar.

Explore how the region’s interurban streetcar systems grew up along with Colorado’s young cities, including Denver and Golden. See how the past can repeat, as some of the growth seen along today’s light rail system, is closely paralleled in the growth seen in the early 1900s. The Platte Valley Trolley, a heritage streetcar system that keeps this history alive, is operated by the Denver Tramway Heritage Society.  Join a member of the Society to take a look at the past, present, and glimpse into a possible future as they tell the interesting story of how people get around their city.
