Today from 11AM-7PM, the Golden City Brewery will host their 18th annual GOLDENFEST, which is a fund-raiser that benefits the Golden Fire Department.

Cannonball Creek will run Pepperpalooza today from 12-11PM, with chili beers, on-site green chili roasting, and live music.

This is the final day for New Terrain Brewing’s 2nd Anniversary extravaganza, Wanderfest.

Coda Brewing is having their Grand Opening today from 12-9PM.

Golden Farmers Market

The Farmers Market will run from 8AM-1PM this morning in the parking lot at 10th and Illinois.

Yoga in the Park kicks off at 9AM. The teachers from Golden Yoga and Healing Arts teach theme classes. They’re free, but they do accept donations. Bring a mat at water to Parfet Park (10th and Washington) at 9AM.

The City and Bicycle Colorado are hosting a FREE Kids Bike Rodeo today from 10AM-1PM in the Coors Tek Parking Lot at 10th and Jackson. Children do not need to bring bikes, but should bring helmets if they have them. Bicycle Colorado will assist with proper helmet fitting for children. This is a great opportunity for children to learn safety techniques. Bike rodeos are recommended for children ages 4 to 13. Bicycles and striders will be provided. Children can come anytime and go through the course as many times as they like!

A Jeffco Open Space Ranger will be at the Golden Library this morning from 11-12, telling us about the Geology and History of North Table Mountain.

The Colorado State Patrol is having a Demo Day today from 11AM-5PM, with professional skills demonstrations by Colorado State Patrol motorcycle officers, local police motorcycle officers, and Motorcycle Safety instructors. You can ride the skills course yourself if you bring your own bike and sign their waiver. They’ll have food trucks and vendors on hand. This event is open to the public and FREE! Brontos & Brews Festival at Dinosaur Ridge near Golden Colorado

Don’t forget the Brontos & Brews Festival at Dinosaur Ridge from 10AM-4PM. They’ll have dinosaur-themed rides and games starting at 10AM, and a beer garden featuring local breweries from 1-4PM.  Be there at noon to help them beat the Guinness World Record for most people in Dinosaur costumes! Bring a costume if you have one, or they’ll have a limited number they can loan out.

Carriage Rides in Downtown Golden Colorado

The downtown merchants are celebrating Golden Weekends again tonight, so head downtown for a free carriage ride from 5-7, music on the Avenue from 5-8, and lots of sales and samples in the stores!

A Lovely Fall Day

Creekside Path - Golden Colorado

Should be a lovely day to be in Golden Colorado--sunny and mid-60s.   The final election Coffee with a Councilor will be this morning at 10AM at Natural Grocers (map).  Casey Brown will host Ward 3 candidate Jim Dale.

While the main Golden Farmers Market is over for the year, the neighborhood market at 15th and Jackson is still operating, this week and next.

Miners Alley Children’s Theater will perform The Legend of Sleepy Hollow at 11AM and 1PM.

The Beer Tasting and Chili Cookoff will be happening in Parfet Park from 1-4PM.

Tonight’s Golden Hayride Beer Tour is sold out, but there are a few spaces left on tomorrow’s.  Next weekend, they’ll be starting the Haunted Hayride.

Likewise, tonight’s “Murder, Mayhem, & Madness” tour is sold out, but there are openings on the Sunday night tour, and there are several more scheduled this month.

Colorado School of Mines Homecoming Parade

The CSM Homecoming parade will take place at 9 this morning along Illinois Street from 18th to 12th Street.  The Homecoming Football Game against Fort Lewis College will be at noon in the Marv Kay Stadium.

Calvary Church Tour

This is the final day for the Beautiful Junk Sale at the Jeffco Fairgrounds. They have lots of fun stuff–cheap–and the proceeds benefit a great cause. They’re open from 8-4 today.

The Walk for Freshwater leaves from Golden High School this afternoon at 3. It’s not too late to register or donate.

Party at the Dog Park
There’s a party at the dog park in Tony Grampsas Memorial Sports Complex this evening from 4-9PM. Apollo Peak Pet Wines and Keller Williams are hosting an evening of wine and music to enjoy with your pets. “Pet Wine?” Despite the name, it’s non-alcoholic and contains things that pets tend to like, such as catnip and fish oil. The company that makes it, Apollo Peak, will also be serving wine-wine and will have live music. If you’ve always wanted to enjoy cocktail hour with your pet, here’s your chance to try it!

Drumline Concert
Golden High School’s amazing, award-winning Drumline is giving a concert tonight at 7 in the high school auditorium. Donations are accepted at the door.

Golden Gallop - Fund-Raiser for the Golden Schools Foundation

Tomorrow – the Golden Gallop!
The Golden Gallop is a 10K/5K/Kid’s Fun Run and Golden School Foundation’s biggest annual fundraiser. The proceeds from the Golden Gallop will go toward funding Golden School Foundation’s key programs to help improve our seven Golden neighborhood articulation schools: Golden High School, Bell Middle School and Kyffin, Mitchell, Ralston, Shelton, and Welchester Elementary Schools.  Plan to participate, or plan to go downtown to applaud!  You can sign up tomorrow morning in Parfet Park from 6:30-7:30AM.  The 10K race starts at 7:45AM and 5K at 8AM.  More information and to register.

The Golden High School football team WON last night’s homecoming game against Green Mountain.  Go Demons!

Toby’s Pet Parade is at 8:30 this morning, starting in Parfet Park, and pet fair will run in the park from 8-1.

The Golden Farmers Market runs from 8AM-1PM at 10th & Illinois, and the Neighborhood Market runs from 8AM-2PM at 15th & Jackson.

The Golden Backpack Program will celebrate the grand opening of their new Fresh Food Coop from 10AM-2PM at New Hope Community Church, 16800 9th Ave. (map).

Sleepy Hollow

Miners Alley Children’s Theater is opening their production of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow today, with performances at 11 and 1.  Ichabod Crane has come to Sleepy Hollow to teach, but what he learns there frightens him nearly out of his wits! Watch as Ichabod learns of the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and tries to escape the clutches of the Headless Horseman. $10 Call 303-935-3044 for more information.

The stores of Golden are having a SIDEWALK SALE today from 10AM-5PM.

This is the second and final day of the Ball Production Technician Job Fair–9AM to 1PM.

Both Farmers Markets (10th & Illinois and 15th and Jackson) will be running this morning.

Safety and Preparedness Day will be celebrated at the Fire Station (911 10th St.) from 10AM-2PM.

Coffee with a Councilor will take place at White Ash Mine Park from 10-11. Casey Brown will have two guests–the candidates for City Council Ward 4.

The Golden City Brewery will host Goldenfest all day. This is a fund-raiser for the Fire Department, so you can drink beer and feel virtuous at the same time.

Dinosaur Ridge is having one of their Dinosaur Discovery Days today from 10AM-2PM. Today, they’re focusing on geocachingGeocaching is a great activity done with family and friends! Utilizing GPS coordinates, visitors locate small canisters, boxes, and crates, hidden in unique locations! The Dinosaur Ridge Main Visitor Center and the Dinosaur Ridge Trail feature many geocaches, as well as several earthcaches. GPS devices are available to rent from the USGS during the event. Both today and tomorrow at 2PM, Calvary Church will be giving tours to celebrate their 150th anniversary.

The Second Annual Golden Giddyup mountain bike festival will be happening tomorrow, starting at 7:30AM.

Golden Real Estate is hosting an event from 10AM-3PM to celebrate National Drive Electric Week. They’ll have a bunch of electric vehicles on hand, including LEAF, Tesla Model S, Chevy Bolt, Chevy Volt, Ford Focus, Smart fortwo electric drive, Tesla Model X, and Prius.  The owners will answer questions and give rides in their vehicles.

The Quilt Museum is resuming their Sunday at the Museum series tomorrow from 2-4 with Confessions of a Scrap QueenIrene Berry enjoys the reputation of someone who will use any fabric, no matter how ugly it is. She will present a trunk show that includes some of her most recent quilts—and as you know, every quilt has a story. Irene will share her four top tips for making and designing your own successful scrap quilt.

The Mountaineering Museum is hosting their first ever outdoor movie night, and it includes a Beers of Golden Happy Hour, with beer from Golden City Brewery, Mountain Toad Brewing, Barrels & Bottles Brewery, and Holidaily Brewing Company. Street Tacos will also be available. The Happy Hour will be 5-7 and the films will run from 7-9. Bring a blanket or lawn chair.  Admission is free, including free admission to the museum.  Learn more….

Tomorrow is going to be a super-busy day in Golden, so I’ll get a head start on describing the events. Both Farmers Markets (10th & Illinois and 15th and Jackson) will be running in the morning. The Be a Tool! group will be swarming all over town, helping people with home repairs.

Golden Fire Department Safety Day

The Golden Fire Department will be hosting Safety and Preparedness Day from 10AM-2PM at Fire Station #1, 911 10th St. This is a fun, family-friendly event that includes personal fire truck tours, live fire demonstrations, game-based fire and burn education for all ages, and free car seat checks. There will be many opportunities to learn about safety in the home and the community. There will also be drawings for door prizes and bottomless popcorn along with an assortment of refreshments.

He has invited the two candidates for City Council Ward 4 (Mikey Sheridan and Laura Weinberg), so this is a good opportunity to meet them in an informal environment and ask where they stand on the issues.

The Golden City Brewery will host their 17th annual GOLDENFEST, which is a fund-raiser that benefits the Golden Fire Department.  Stop by for a beer, and help them reach their goal of $5,000 to give to the Fire Department this year.

The stores downtown will be holding a massive SIDEWALK SALE, so definitely plan to stroll through downtown tomorrow!
