Golden is Buzzing Today

Saoirse Charis-Graves is holding a Coffee with a Councilor this morning from 10-11 at Bean Fosters (map). Here’s your chance to discuss any questions or concerns regarding city activities.

The Farmers Market will run from 8-1.  It’s an open-air farmers’ market with produce, meats, specialty items, including wine, pasta, salmon, garden art, and more, next to the Golden Public Library along Clear Creek.

Thomas the Tank Engine in Golden Colorado

Thomas the Tank Engine is at the Railroad Museum this weekend and next.  It’s best to buy your tickets ahead of time, since some of the most popular times are sold out.

The Golden City Brewery is having a “Beachless Beach Party” today.  I’m not sure what that entails, but it sounds like fun.

As mentioned yesterday, the VFW will have a car show from 8-1. Breakfast and lunch will be available, and there will be live music and raffle drawings.

The Golden Super Cruise runs from 5-8:30 on South Golden Road. If you like classic cars, plan to visit. If you dislike traffic congestion, avoid that area during those 3-1/2 hours.

If you love your own car, stop by the Hot Vehicles Photo Booth at the Golden Vision Clinic (map) between 5 and 8:30PM.

Things to Do Today

Farmers Market - Golden ColoradoThe Farmers Market will be open today from 8AM-1PM.

District 2 Councilor Casey Brown will hold Coffee with a Councilor at 10AM at Cafe 13 (map).

Reuben Gonzales will be playing on the patio at the Buffalo Rose starting at 3:30.  Tripwire will play at Wrigley’s Chicago Bar & Grill from 4-8.

Earth Sweet Botanicals is hosting free tea tasting with Teakoe Tea Company today from 11-2.  Teakoe is a local Colorado company with lots of wonderful, natural teas. Try flavors such as Wayward Watermelon, Mango Manifesto, and Boardwalk Blackberry.

At 2PM, the Golden History Center will present Patty Limerick’s Western Mining program, featuring conversation on bridging the gap between past and present. Learn about issues within the context of Colorado’s rich mining history.

Murders & Estate Sales (Unrelated)

Home for Sale - Golden Colorado

I don’t usually write about estate sales and real estate open houses, but there’s one starting today that’s worth mentioning. A retired Golden High School teacher is selling his house on North Table Mountain. In order to clear out the house, he and his wife are selling some of the contents of the house at an “estate sale.” The house is beautiful. The property includes pasture and horse stable, and is located just outside of the Golden city limits. The estate sale will be today (June 16th) and tomorrow from 10-3. The open house is today and tomorrow from 12-3.  See the house.

There’s a Murder, Mayhem, and Madness tour tonight at 5PM, leaving from the Visitors Center. The tour is interesting, and may not be suitable for children. Learn more….

District 2 Councilor Casey Brown will hold Coffee with a Councilor tomorrow morning (Saturday the 17th) at 10AM at Cafe 13 (map).
