Sundaes at the Library, Mineral Club at the Geology Museum, and Music by Mines

The Library’s Global Sundae event (2-3PM today) is designed to introduce international families to all of the services and free programs and services provided by the Golden Library. We’re a global community! Connect with other families, practice English, and eat ice cream while enjoying great conversation! Activities and crafts for all ages provided.

If you’re a mineral collector (and there are a lot of you in this town!) consider joining the Rocky Mountain Micromineral Club. They’re meeting at the Geology Museum today from 2-2:30PM. 1310 Maple Street, Golden, CO (map).

The Mines Symphony Orchestra and Mines Jazz Band will perform this afternoon at 2PM in the old Golden Ford building at 19th St. and 6th Avenue. Apparently, they’ve set up a performance space in the southwest corner. The Jazz Band program includes tunes by Kern and Hammerstein, Thad Jones, and more, including student composer Robert Johanson. The Mines Symphony Orchestra will be playing “Godzilla Eats Las Vegas” by Eric Whitacre, and Professor Toni Lefton will join us to narrate Nathaniel Stookey’s “The Composer is Dead.” Join us for an afternoon full of music and entertainment for the whole family!
