Snowmageddon and Museums of Increasing Antiquity

March 13, 2019

The Jefferson County Public Schools and the School of Mines are both closed today, in anticipation of the snow storm.

These are the events scheduled today…probably a good idea to confirm before heading out.

Noon – Golden Women in Business Book Club at Connects Workspace. They’re scheduled to discuss Becoming by Michelle Obama.

6PM – Fly-Tying Class at Golden River Sports

Live Music:
Dirty Dogs Roadhouse – Peter Fletcher, 6-9PM
Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse – Wintery Wednesday Concert Series, 6-9PM
Rock Rest Lodge – Dave Frisk, 5-8:30

Dinosaur Ridge recently posted their plans to celebrate 30 years of operations. They plan a full weekend of events over the weekend of April 25-28th, including a dinosaur movie party, dinosaur-themed carnival, a gala dinner and silent auction, lectures and tours.

This got me thinking about the ages of Golden’s many museums. I thought you might be interested too:

The American Mountaineering Museum opened in 2008, so it turns 11 this year

The Clear Creek History Park turns 20 this year

The Rocky Mountain Quilt Museum is 29.
1989
Dinosaur Ridge celebrates their 30th anniversary this year.
1968

1959
The Colorado Railroad Museum turns 60 this year.
1939
The Golden History Museum opened 80 years ago in January of this year.
1921
The Buffalo Bill Museum opened in 1921, so it’s 98 this year
1874
The granddaddy of all of our museums, the CSM Geology Museum, is 145 years old!

Many thanks to the people and organizations who support "What's Happening in Golden."
