Today’s big event, of course, is the opening of the Light Rail, with its attendant parties.  See today’s Golden Business News for information on how to partake of all that.  The Golden Visitors Bureau site has a good write-up about light rail, including some historic photos showing the streetcars when they came all the way into downtown Golden.  Dave Powers took some nice photos of line-opening yesterday’s ceremony.

The Golden Police are conducting a Drug Take Back today from 10-2 at the City Hall.  If you have old prescriptions around the house, here’s your chance to dispose of them safely.

The Golden Gate Grange is holding a Horse Lovers Fair this afternoon from 12-4.  Representatives from Westernaires, Golden Gate Vaulters, Big View Horse Therapy, Golden Gate State Park, Jeffco Horse Council (including fire evacuation information), and The Horse Protection League will be available for the entire afternoon, and each will give a presentation on their programs, riding, training and volunteer opportunities. In addition, a Civil War Re Enactor will talk about his experiences. There will be a demonstration/class, “Yoga for Equestrians”. Local realtors will have information on horse properties in the Golden area. There will be new and used tack/equestrian clothes for sale, and information on horses for sale or lease.  For more information, check the Grange’s website.
