Jefferson County Open Space is holding a volunteer recruitment event from 4-7PM today, at the JCOS Administration Building, 700 Jefferson County Parkway, Suite 100, Golden, CO (map)

From observing wildlife and assisting visitors to bringing history to life, volunteers find many ways to contribute to Jeffco Open Space (JCOS).  Learn about all the opportunities and talk with staff members and volunteers about positions that best suit your schedule and interests.
Drop-in at any time between 4 and 7PM. Refreshments and snacks will be on hand for all who attend.

The Colorado Mountain Club has an interesting program from 6-9PM tonight.  Luis Benitez, mountaineer and Colorado’s first Director of the Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, will present on his climbing expeditions to Mt. Everest and peaks around the world.  Before beginning his tenure as the Director of the Colorado Outdoor Recreation Industry Office, Luis Benitez tackled Everest’s summit 6 times. We’re honored to welcome this advocate, pioneer, and friend of the CMC to our home on Thursday, Feb. 15. Luis will spend some time with us talking about the future of Colorado’s outdoor industry, his combined 32(!!!) successful attempts on the Seven Summits, and more.  Join us in the conference rooms of the American Mountaineering Center for this FREE event!  American Mountaineering Center, 710 10th Street.  More information.


New Terrain Brewery has live music tonight.  Golden’s own Thunder & Rain will be playing from 6-9PM.


Tomorrow is an early release day for the Jeffco Public Schools, so the Library will be hosting Freaky Friday from 2-3:30.  They’ll have games, LEGO® fun and crafts.
