Yesterday was the first day of spring, and for a change, we’re actually having spring weather for the vernal equinox! The downtown planters contain crocuses and trees all over town are in bloom. This marks the half-way point between the winter solstice (shortest day of the year) and the summer solstice (longest day of the year). We had 9 hours and 21 minutes of daylight on December 21st and will have 14 hours and 59 minutes on June 20th. Yesterday we had 12 hours and 9 minutes. Source.
Director’s Storytime and Craft at the Railroad Museum
Busy cultural day today. Dinosaur Ridge has a talk scheduled at 10AM about Pachycephalosaurs. The Railroad Museum is holding their monthly story time and craft from 10-11AM for 4-6 year olds. The Golden History Center will host historian Ed Weising from 1-2:30, discussing Curious Castles and Mysterious Mansions of Colorado. The Library’s book group meets tonight from 6-7 and will discuss The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls.
The Sustainability Board will meet tomorrow night at 6 (note earlier start time) in City Council Chambers. Their agenda includes an interesting conversation about Tiny Homes, including the answers to two basic questions: What Could Golden Do to Increase Tiny Home Opportunities? and What do I need to live in a Tiny Home in Golden?
