As mentioned yesterday, this is Bike to Work Day and there are several breakfast stations set up around town, plus an after-work party.

5PM – The Golden Community Rodeo Series starts tonight on Clear Creek. Tonight’s freestyle competition is sponsored by Golden River Sports. The comp is open to all kayakers*, including C1s, of all skill levels on June 19. Participants will be grouped into appropriate categories based on their age, gender, and skill level – typically Junior, Sport, Intermediate, Expert, and Masters Divisions for both men and women. Admission to compete in the series is free. However, you must be a current Colorado Whitewater member for insurance purposes. Renew or sign-up online or at the event for only $30, which includes entry to all three events and a one-year membership to Colorado Whitewater. Come have some fun or come cheer on the kayakers! Should be a nice night to be on the Creek. In addition to kayak-watching, stop by the Visitors Center patio and enjoy some country-western music by Julie Richardson. She’ll be playing from 6-8PM.

5PM – Golden United will hold a meeting at Calvary Church to organize a rental assistance campaign. They hope to raise at least $50,000 for Golden residents who have emergencies and are struggling to pay rent or utilities. Please contact benioffron@gmail.com for more information and if you would like to join in this activity.

6PM – The Sustainability Board will meet in City Council Chambers. They will review 1) introductory materials to consider a commercial and multifamily energy benchmarking program and discuss next steps; 2) a proposed scope of work for assistance in reviewing energy reports for new development projects; 3) review proposed metrics for use in tracking and measuring the new Sustainability Goals. These industry-based metrics will also be used to evaluate future policy and project recommendations to City Council. See the meeting packet….
