Growing Pains, Awards, and Live Music

January 10, 2019

Runners High will have their weekly fun run at 6:30 this evening, leaving from their new store at 2120 Ford St (map). They will be joined by ambassadors from the Colfax Marathon.

51-unit apartment building approved on January 2nd. Developers received a special use permit to allow 100% residential in a mixed use zone; a tier 2 bonus, which allowed them to add a third story, permission to build over the alley; permission to start construction before acquiring 51 housing allocations; permission to exceed the height limit along Jackson Street, and permission to have 13 of the residents use the high school parking lot

City Council will meet at 6:30 in City Council Chambers. Some public comment is expected regarding the number of waivers, variances, and special use permits that have been granted to developers in the past year, resulting a rate and type of growth that many residents are finding distressing.

The Mayor will proclaim this to be National Radon Action Month. The VFW will present their Pubic Servant Award to Corporal Zachary Lions of the Fire Department and to Fire Inspector Jonathan Priestly. The Colorado Chapter, American Public Works Association will present awards for the Linking Lookout project and the Kenny Run Channel Improvement project and the Professional Manager of the Year Award (Water Resources) to Will Stambaugh. They will vote to approve vacation of a small portion of right of way near the King Soopers/Peerless Tyre roundabout. They will vote on an update to the sustainability requirements for commercial and multifamily developments. They will announce the number of 2019 allocations for new dwelling units under the 1% growth limit. Click here to see how many units have been built each year since the growth limit was established.

City Council meetings are broadcast live on the cable TV public access channel and on the Agenda page of the city website.
