Property for proposed new municipal center – click to enlarge

The big news for the day is that the City has agreed on a price to buy 7.1 acres in the Goosetown neighborhood, including the Coors North Office Building, for $12.25 million. After taking possession, the City plans to renovate the building to serve as a Civic Center, including a new City Hall, Police Department, and History Museum, with additional space for other cultural entities. Learn more about the area to be purchased….

No word yet on the projected cost of the renovations.

The City would finance this purchase with Certificates of Participation, which would not require a vote of the people. In fact, City Council will vote on the purchase on April 11th, so this may happen very soon. If you have questions about the proposal, contact your city council representatives.
