If you ever find yourself considering Golden issues–growth, affordable housing, traffic calming, historic preservation, sustainability–and wondering who made those decisions?  why didn’t they see it my way–the right way?–you should be following local government more closely!

Start tonight!  The Leadership Golden Candidates Forum takes place tonight at 6:30 in City Council Chambers and will be broadcast live on the city website and cable channel 8.  Each candidate will make an opening statement, answer a series of questions about current issues, and make a closing statement.  It’s a perfect opportunity to compare and contrast your choices.

Golden High School’s State Right Productions will be performing The Madwoman of Chaillot this weekend.  The Prospector, the Broker, the Baron, and the Chairwoman of the Board have discovered oil beneath the streets of Paris and seek to destroy whatever they must in order to get it. It falls to the Madwoman of Chaillot, an eccentric countess who acts as the core of creative thought, and the everyday people of Paris to stop the darkness from taking control of their world.  Tickets: $8 – $10  Performances will be Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7, and a matinee Saturday at 2.


Foothills Art Center is hosting aerialist Jill Scott, who will interpret the current show, Street Fonts and Funk from 6-8PM.  Free for members and regular admission for non-members.


The Geology Museum’s monthly lecture will be tonight at 6:30 in the Ben Parker Student Center.  The topic: “An Overview of Current Research in Extractive Metallurgy and Mineral Processing at the Colorado School of Mines” by Dr. Patrick R. Taylor, P.E., FASM.  Learn more….


The Colorado Mountain Club’s Radical Reels Film Festival starts tonight and will run through Saturday.  Grab your tickets and hang on to your seat for the best jaw-dropping mountain sport films on skiing, boarding, climbing, biking, kayaking and more – all brought to life on the big screen.
