Saturday
Saturday May 12th is the annual Stamp Out Hunger event.  Leave a bag of non-perishable food next to your mailbox and your letter carrier will pick it up.  All food collected in Golden stays in Golden.  Volunteers are needed to help sort and shelf the donated food items. Last year there were 89 community volunteers and six members of the Lions Club who worked the drive, and they sorted 26,000 lbs of food! If you are interested in volunteering, contact Mindy Liao at amandaliao14@gmail.com or call 517-449-5956.

If you ordered a Garden in a Box, tomorrow is the day to collect between noon and 3PM it at the Golden Public Works Building, 1445 10th St (map).  This is another volunteer opportunity.  If you’re free between 9AM to 12:30PM or 11:30AM to 3PM tomorrow and you’d like to help with garden distribution, please contact Marissa Major at mmajor@resourcecentral.org.

community garage sale - Golden Colorado

About tomorrow’s Community Garage Sales:  There is a chance of rain tomorrow.  Jim Smith says if it’s raining at 7AM on Saturday and the forecast calls for continuing rain, he’ll be calling a Rain Date of next Saturday the 19th. The signs at each subdivision will announce that, but you can also check the web pages for each of the two sales:  Stonebridge and Mountain Ridge.

Casey Brown is having Coffee with a Councilor tomorrow morning at 10, at the home of Tom and Alice Atkins at 1110 12th St. (map).  This is a great opportunity to talk with a representative and fellow residents of the neighborhoods in north Golden, as well as any issue related to the good of Golden.  For details call Councilor Casey Brown at 303-900-2003 or email cbrown@cityofgolden.net.

Tomorrow from 10-4 is Steampunk at the Station at the Railroad Museum!  Ride behind a 19th century steam engine.  Wear your own steampunk attire or just enjoy the ensembles created by others.  In either case it’s a lot of fun.  There are still some tickets available for the 2PM Steampunk Tea Party on the dining car.
