An Art-Centric Day in Golden, Plus Music

The Public Art Commission meets this morning at 9AM in City Council Chambers. They will review the final draft of an Art in Your Park brochure. (That’s a program where City plans to put temporary art installations in parks throughout the city.) They will discuss plans for an Open House during Arts Week. They will consider ways to promote the new art installation off of highway 93 at the north entrance to town. Staff will provide updates on the Community Art Partnership (local young artists), a “Greetings from Golden” mural to be placed on the History Museum, and a project to decorate several signal boxes.

The Commission will discuss relocating the statue of the Prospector & Burro. That piece was originally located at 13th and Washington and was moved down by the creek for a while. A statue of a bicyclist replaced it at 13th and Washington. The bicycle statue was hit by cars or trucks several times. Citizens submitted a petition to get the prospector back. Recently, a truck jumped the curb and hit the base of the statue, so the city is considering relocating it again. See the agenda for more details about these topics.

The Library will offer Wee Create: Outdoor Art for preschoolers and toddlers from 11:15AM-noon.
