Edible Glitter? Yes!

June 30, 2018

Golden Sweets and Blue Moose Trading Company - Golden Colorado

Golden Weekends continues tonight, with free carriage rides from 5-7PM and live music along Washington Avenue from 5-8PM.

Golden Sweets has a fun new topping: edible glitter! Add some sparkle to your evening: stop in for an ice cream cone tonight and ask them to top it with glitter.

After you’ve consumed your sparkly ice cream, head next door to Blue Moose Trading Co. It’s always fun to see what they’re selling this week. They define their look as rustic-industrial with an electic vibe. Not sure what that is? Visit the store and find out! They now have gift cards.

Golden Sweets is open every day from 11AM-10PM. Blue Moose Trading Company is open every day from 10AM-9PM.

Local Talent

December 21, 2017

Thunder and Rain at New Terrain Brewing

Golden’s supremely talented alternative country band, Thunder & Rain, will be playing at New Terrain Brewing tonight from 6-9PM.  The group recently celebrated the release of their second album, Start Believing, and they are always great.

Golden is experiencing a wave of opportunities to enjoy local talent.  The Old Capitol Grill & Smokehouse has Open Mic every TuesdayBarrels & Bottles has Acoustic Monday the last Monday of every month (not this month, because Monday is Christmas day).  New Terrain Brewing now has Fireside Pickers on Monday nights, where the first 8 qualified pickers can perform.

Lily Conrad - A Very BabyBaby ChristmasHere’s a particularly charming example of local talent.  Lily Conrad, recent graduate of Golden High School, has produced a Christmas album.  You can listen to it online, and, if you like, you can buy it–naming your own price.  What a wonderful way to support a young, emerging talent!

Saying Goodbye (Again) to Buffalo Bill

June 20, 2017

Jim Salestrom - Golden Colorado

There are only two more opportunities to see Jim Salestrom performing his special centennial celebration of Buffalo Bill.  He will be at the Golden Masonic Lodge tonight, June 20th, and Thursday, June 22nd, at 7PM.

Jim’s a big deal.  He normally tours with Dolly Parton, and has toured with Kenny Rogers, John Denver, and many others.  He’s performed at the White House and on The Tonight Show.

So what, you may ask, is he doing in Golden and performing at the Masonic Lodge, of all places?  Jim has a house in Arvada, where he lives part of the year.  He knew that business would keep him in town for a couple of months; he’s interested in Buffalo Bill, so he decided to produce a show about him.  He’s doing it at the Masonic Lodge because Golden’s Masons performed Buffalo Bill’s funeral in 1917.

Jim isn’t making a dime on this show–he’s doing it for fun.  There’s a suggested donation of $10 at the door, and that goes to charity.

(I’m going tonight!)

Yee-haw! (Colorado Cowboy Gathering)

January 16, 2016

Colorado Cowboy Gathering

The Colorado Cowboy Gathering is next weekend.  Are you going?  It’s a great opportunity to enjoy western music, humor, poetry–western culture!  The performers come from all over the world, and attendees come here from all over the country.  It’s a real honor to have them here in Golden.

This is a family-friendly event, and it’s a lot of fun.  It all happens at the Mountaineering Center, at 10th & Washington
