Buffalo Rose Restaurant Opens Today

May 24, 2019

The Buffalo Rose restaurant officially opens today! They will have a celebration and ribbon-cutting from 11AM-noon. After that–they’re open for business!

They describe their menu as “regionally inspired American cuisine with a heavy Latin influence & western.” I can personally recommend their bison burger. They have a good wine list and an impressive range of beers on tap. Try one of their signature cocktails, made with State 38 spirits!

The restaurant hours are Monday-Thursday 11AM-10PM, Friday-Saturday 11AM-12PM, and Sunday 11AM-9PM.

Golden Beer Talks: Sharks!

May 14, 2019

This will be a special meeting of Golden Beer Talks: it’s our last meeting at Windy Saddle Cafe. Despite our deep affection for our “birthplace,” we have outgrown the available space in Windy Saddle. Next month, we’ll be moving across the street to the Buffalo Rose. Tonight, we plan to celebrate our hostess of 5-1/2 years…Windy Saddle’s owner, DeAnn Wieber.

This evening, Dr. Mikki McComb-Kobza of the Ocean First Institute will tell us about The World of Sharks. Sharks are iconic and misunderstood species with a long evolutionary history. There are over 500 living shark species, all with unique adaptations, that have radiated into nearly every aquatic habitat. There is tremendous diversity in shark species life histories, reproductive modes, habitat use, sensory biology, ecology, and behavior. Sharks are under global threat from human interference and over 30% are at risk for extinction. Today, research and conservation efforts are targeting effective ways to protect endangered species. For this talk, Dr. Mikki McComb-Kobza will share the story of shark diversification and their fascinating adaptations, as well as aspects of her ongoing conservation and research efforts through the Ocean First Institute. Learn more….

Golden Beer Talks officially starts at 6:30, but the regulars will start showing up at about 6 to secure a table. Windy Saddle will not be serving dinner tonight, instead, DeAnn plans to serve a variety of snacks and craft beers.

After a year-long closure for remodeling, the Buffalo Rose has opened the Event Center (the north side) and The State Room–the VIP cocktail lounge on the mezzanine above the event center. The adjacent restaurant and bar will open later this spring.

They do offer food in the venue during events, and they host events several nights per week. They’re hosting a wedding show today from 11AM-3PM, so if you have a wedding in your future, this is a chance to meet some vendors and check out the new Buffalo Rose at the same time.
